SH041 – Find NGC 247, NGC 7793, and NGC 55

In Episode SH041 of Star Hopping…

We’ll look at the Sculptor region, and show you how to find three incredible needle galaxies. We’ll locate NGC 247 in the neighboring constellation of Cetus, NGC 7793, a violent galaxy with a hidden mystery, and the huge half degree long NGC 55.

This last galaxy is larger than the full moon is wide!

As we continue with the Star Hopping Series, we have three beautiful galaxies to show you this week. We’ll be concentrating on the constellation of Sculptor. You can find this somewhat faint constellation this time of the year in the lower southeastern sky. Sculptor is loaded with galaxies, and the most famous is the Sculptor Spiral. We shared that one with you in Episode 5 of Star Hopping. But around this magnificent galaxy are several other large and bright target galaxies. We’ll show you the first and highest galaxy in the group right after this message…
