In Episode SH062 of Star Hopping…

we’ll examine the Camelopardalis region, and locate three targets for the Big Guns, meaning they are challenge objects. We’ll find the massive spiral galaxy IC 342, the Gamma Cassiopeia Nebula, otherwise catalogued as IC 59 and 63,  and lastly we’ll hunt down the elusive Bubble Nebula,  NGC 7635.

Intro

So we’ve had a bit of a break in the series. There’s been a fairly large change in our YouTube environment that may affect our future. I’ll speak more about that at the end of the episode tonight. So let’s get on with three new deep sky objects for you.

In this episode of Star Hopping, we’ll be looking into the north & northeastern part of the night sky, in and around the dim constellation of Camelopardalis the Camel, Cepheus the King, and Cassiopeia the Queen. All of these are generally somewhat difficult objects, so to see them you’ll need a large scope, say a 10”, and reasonably dark sky. All three of the targets tonight are very photogenic astrophotography subjects.

Our first target of the evening is a huge face on spiral galaxy, and we’ll find it, right after this break.
